Christmas 2012

Fred and I's first Christmas was a lot of fun!!!!

  • Finding the Tree!!  I really wanted to get a tree, I had all the decorations but no tree to put them on... So I went out to go buy one, and as I was about to head out Fred told me to wait that he was going to check craigslist real quick... bargain hunting being my favorite past times I was totally game for that idea!! And sure enough someone had posted a 7' tree 10 minutes earlier that they had just bought last year... in perfect condition... for practically free.... 3 miles away from our house.... BASICALLY Jesus wanted us to have that tree...

  • Decorating!!! Was a lot of fun!!! Christmas means a lot to us, and it is fun to get to express that in a creative way!

  • Being Together!!!  This year was a lot of new for us.... not only did we get married, but Fred also got a new job that has blessed us tremendously... with that new job he actually got Christmas Eve and Christmas off for the first time since coming to the US.. we know that we are young and that we may have to pay our time until we get to the point where we have all holidays off together and are on the same schedule... but what a blessing this year to have Christmas together!!!

  • SNOW!!! This may not be a big deal to our friends and family from the great Pacific Northwest... but to our friends and family from Kenya, this is an adventure that they do not experience every year at their homes.... SO this is Fred shoveling our lovely driveway (which neither of us have had to do in the past, because we have lived at apartment complexes where they shovel for you....or you have a Dad like mine...) we are so blessed to have this house and to get to shovel this lovely thing called snow that God gives us.

Parents from a distance

Fred and I are learning to become more creative in the ways that we show love to his two kids in Kenya.

Most parents can easily show love to their kids everyday when they wake up in the morning or when they come home from school, catering to each child's love language...

Being 10,000 miles away, where phone and internet is limited to where the kids live has been a challenge and  the most long distance relationship you can ever think of!!!

Last month we got some poster board and decided to color... a very awesome child activity... and take fun pictures of ourselves with our creations... I took on the more girly poster and Fred decided to stick with the more boyish poster.

We wish more than anything that they were with us... but while they are not... our creativity will have to be in high gear as we look for more ways to express our love from 10,000 miles away!

Love you Felicity and Andrew!!!
Love Dad and Kelsey

Becoming a Family- World Wide

Fred and I have wanted to start a blog for a long time for many reasons..

  1. Family World Wide: The biggest reason is the fact that we have family all around world and we want to share our life experiences with them.
  2. Document the Journey: We want to be able to look back at our creative moments, our holidays, our goofy times and our achievements.
  3. Just because...
We are overly excited to be on this life journey together and can't wait for what God has in store for us.
